The NFL has told Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to stop talking about the national anthem policy, according to a report from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

According to the report, Jones was scheduled to talk to several television stations on Sunday, but told them that he would not answer questions about that topic.

Jones also said that the Cowboys policies about the anthem were not permitted.

Jones sparked controversy last week when said that his players will stand on the field during the national anthem this upcoming NFL season, going against a league policy on the issue.

"Our policy is you stand during the anthem, toe on the line," Jones said.

Jones' son, Stephen who is team's executive vice president, doubled down on that stance saying players will stand "if they want to be a Dallas Cowboy."

One player, Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who has protested in the past during the anthem said that Jones was “a bully," while Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott said they have no issue with Jones' stance concerning the anthem.

The NFL and NFL Players Association said they had reached a "standstill agreement" last week on the anthem policy, adding no new rules would be "issued or enforced for the next several weeks."

In May, NFL owners voted on a new national anthem policy, removing a requirement for players to be on the field for the anthem, and giving the players the option to stay in the locker room.

Teams who did not adhere to the policy and "do not show proper respect for the flag and Anthem” on the sidelines were subject to fines.

If the NFL players would stop kneeling & talking about it, then Jerry will stop talking about the anthem.

Its unreal how the liberal left want their minds to be heard but not the other side......Jerry should try & get Goodell out of there, he's terrible.....he keeps hurting the NFL.

Gonna be interesting to watch the NFL this season......hopefully everyone stands, but don't hold your breath.

It's rather sad that many of these owners worship the almighty dollar before anything else. No soul. No integrity. No allegiance to the country that gave them the opportunity to make unthinkable money.

Yep, then on Saturday Jerry was filmed at practice not taking his hat off during the anthem. His son even leans over and says, hey take off your hat, and Jerry still doesn't take it off. Jerry is so patriotic that he is above that shit. Either that or he is a publicity whore that was never at all patriotic and was just about the look. Nothing like a little do as I say not as I do to his players though

Stand for the Anthem, with no political antics, or you will be replaced! End of story. If it means no NFL for a long time, so be it. Stand or get the fuck out! azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^azzkick(&^

His players should stand. This country is about second chances and opportunity. Since he employs more convicts than anyone they should appreciate this country and the opportunities they are given since if you weren’t a cowboy you would be in jail.

you can beat your wife, sell drugs, get in fights and be arrested multiple times and be a cowboy....but don’t kneel for the anthem.....can’t do that if you want to be a cowboy. I’m against the kneeling but somehow projecting jerry Jones in a positive light is ridiculous. This kneeling hurts his pocket, that’s it. If it didn’t he wouldn’t care.

How does it hurt his pocket? A lot of other stadiums sell out still all the time. My question is what is his motive behind this? Are all the other owners going to take this stance? If not, I don't understand it. I am taking the politics out of this. I'm sick of the issue and it's like beating a dead horse. My view is what the players may be thinking. Most of these players don't like to be told what to do. And that includes white and black players. A lot of the NFL is like a brotherhood, they stick together. 70 percent of the NFL is black and the number is rising. How does Jones expect to draw free agents and other players to the team? Jenkins and Sherman have already spoken out and I'm sure other players are listening. If I'm a Dallas fan, I'm wondering if players are going to want to come to Dallas and play. Like I stated, even the ones who aren't kneeling may back the ones who are. Just a thought I had and if I was a Dallas fan, I would tell Jones to keep his mouth shut. Not winning is going to empty that stadium a lot quicker then his anthem stand.

If kneeling again becomes the thing I will pay as much attention to the NFL as I did last year which is hardly. Spent most Sundays with my family. I would catch a few minutes here and there on occasion but the only full game I watched was the SB.

More into college anyways and after a full day of Saturday football I just wanna do something else on Sunday. Pro never catches the excitement like college...for me anyways.

If the players attitudes are that they don't care what the fan thinks and they are going to stick together with Richard Sherman, we will see how that works out for the league. I think that viewership and ratings will again decline. Look, I am not going to argue with anyone over this, I know the league is still number one but if you continue to lose 5-10% of your fans each year, that will catch up to you. The league already has the concussion problem and more young kids are choosing other sports. Until and unless this kneeling bullshit stops, I won't watch one second of the NFL this year and that will be the second year I won't turn on the league and two years ago I started losing interest because the Dolphins that wouldn't stand and the owner (Ross) who flipflopped on the issue. As others have pointed out, I have been watching football since I was born and have been betting on NFL games for over 30 years. Football is my favorite sport but once you offend me, you have lost me.
